merkle raise was genius, because now that the crypto markets have globally topped for the rest of time, they are one of the few businesses with a lot of cash on hand to keep taking shots on goal. lot of other startups won't be able to last through the coming rest-of-the-decade bear market.

It’s tongue-in-cheek but I think the Merkle raise is actually the VC playbook going forward. Instead of 18-month-horizon headcount-growth raises, we will see 5+-year-horizon elite-team raises.
