Starting to think my dream for /native is to scale horizontally rather than vertically. I don’t want to hire a team. I like being indie. I can maintain flexibility to work on what I want to work on, charge what I want, and not be responsible to anyone but my clients. It would be cool, though, to have equal partners who have complementary skillsets to work alongside. They have their own book of business, I have mine. We collaborate on some projects. We share profits. We win together. Pentagram style, but for all different kinds of consultants. I think the relationships need to form organically, though. Can’t go out and hire a partner for your life’s work — they gotta come to you.

This is the hard part. You want to do more than you can do alone, but to work with people who believe you can’t work too hard to pitch them. The current solution for me is to be willing to do everything myself but plug in people when they show interest. It means slow going…but so far we are a pretty resilient team!
