i lost my house in a wildfire a few years ago. some recs for those evacuating:
- grab your dirty clothes hamper, it’s what you wear most
- sentimental items are infinitely more important than “valuable” ones
- you will forget things. that’s okay.
- you’ll get through this ♡

I lost my beloved home in Malibu two nights ago.

I couldn't agree more.

I never thought that my house would burn down the way it did.

I only grabbed my laptop and ledger. I didn't think everything else would burn and didn't have the time to grab heirlooms.

I lost timeless photographs and pieces passed down to me from my family.

With that, I am finding peace and solace in this process, finding inspiration from buddhists who practice the art of sand mandalas only to throw them away.
