We're planning to move forward with rebranding the Warpcast mobile and web app to Farcaster.

1. Nothing is changing any time soon. We will take our time with this and have plenty of communication about it across multiple channels. The earliest the change will happen is mid-May, but a decent chance it happens in June.

2. We're going to work on a plan over the next 2 weeks and should have a plan by the next developer call on May 8, 2025. We will discuss on the call.

3. For developers: we're planning to open source the client monorepo— i.e. the mobile and web apps. Again, no timeline on this yet.

Warpcast is being rebranded to Farcaster 

1. Mobile app will be called Farcaster 
2. The Arch logo will return
3. Website will move from warpcast.com to farcaster.xyz.
4. All links will be backwards compatible. No action needed. 

Will roll out this week or next, depending on app store reviews.

While I think this move makes sense, how would you incentivize developers building alternative clients?

@woj.eth created a fantastic client /super and you scooped it up (hiring Woj), essentially killing the competition

Currently, we have /recaster with hardly any users and /fiids, which I love and hope it continues existing

Remember how you started Farcaster and don’t turn into Facebook, eliminating competition on your way to the top

there’s not enough users for multiclients, and multiclients dont bring new users

i think this decision is the best to grow users on the protocol right now

Allow me to disagree. The /super client was gaining traction and competing with Warpcast, so the number of users aren’t the issue 

An year or two from now would be absolutely impossible for a new Farcaster client to gain users and have the necessary network effect to succeed as a product

I’m old enough to remember the early Twitter years and the different clients I used to access the platform. But we all know what happened later…

I fear Dan and co are following the same playbook. The first step is to unite the protocol and the client under one brand

warpcast has ~50k DAU, how can they be enough?

by the way now there's @coinbasewallet and @zapper as clients

Coinbase and Zapper will bring more users, and are alternative clients, just like Supercast (but with funding) - regardless of Warpcast / Farcaster name.

actually, the name Farcaster will help bringing new users as it will be less confusing

According to your logic, Coinbase and Zapper wouldn’t bring new users and shouldn’t compete because there aren’t enough users

But the Super client by Woj was doing just fine
