Social security will be insolvent somewhere around 30 years before I retire.

A serious candidate for POTUS would be figuring out 

1. Paying people back the money they’ve paid in and 

2. Permanently dismantling SS 

Hand wringing over stuff in the middle is pedantry to score political points while attempting to appear centrist and agreeable
