Animated PFP's are going away on Warpcast 😔 

This was a much loved feature, but caused crashes and performance issues for many Android users. There was no easy fix.  

If you have an animated pfp, we'll show it as a static image going forward.

Animated pfps are delightful. But no at-scale social network allows animated pfps. There thus exists a Great Filter that makes development of animated pfps exceedingly rare in the physical universe. in tg you can also have gif profile pictures, to avoid overloading the system they play the gif a couple of times and then switch to a static image, everything works smoothly, i'm sure they'll surprise everyone this year

i used to enjoy creating animations for users here manually and i kind of regret that this won't work here anymore
