Waterworld with Kevin Costner got terrible reviews but I loved it as a kid and still think it's cool. I've been enjoying going back and watching favorites from the 80's and 90's when I was growing up. Interview with the Vampire is a "bad" movie that I also love. Last of the Mohicans, etc.

Side note: a frequent topic with friends is why there aren't more tech positive films coming out of hollywood. Most films today are "decel" and virtue signaling: villain is an evil tech CEO, social network, highlight tech blow up stories like Super Pumped or Theranos, etc.

Was there ever an era when tech was generally depicted positively? I can name a bunch of films but not an era when tech was generally depicted in a positive light. Like many other things, evil tech is just more naturally cinematic than friendly tech

I think post WWII (Manhattan Project, Enigma machine, etc) through the 60's (moon landing) was perhaps positive tech America? I'm not an expert on it, but it seems like tech was considered the key to prosperity at that time.
