For sure, if they request it - by all means. 

I remember sometimes being relegated to my room alone while crying / dealing with big emotions, because it was too much for my dad to deal with - didn’t feel good. 

Yep, all kids different. In general, this newer school of thought makes way more sense than what I grew up / most of us grew up with imo

Every kid is different, but be aware that there are definitely some kids that really need some alone time from time to time. I know I did 👍
