Some of my conversations with ChatGPT go like this:

- Me: "What's the answer to X?"
- ChatGPT: "I don't know"

*I switch to Google and find an answer in 30 seconds*

- Me: "Here's the answer to X"
- ChatGPT: "You're right, and I apologize for my oversight"

Why does this happen?

Chat gpt has literally never told me it didn't have an answer. It's told me the wrong answer but has never said I don't know.
