i wrote “die high” the night my dad passed. his death, and everything that’s come with it, has been one of the most profound experiences of my life.

my love for music comes from him. from the songs he’d write and sing for me as a baby. from the hours we spent belting elvis together in his car. from the afternoons i’d listen to him play the harmonica, or his guitars that were all strung like banjos. 

i’ve always used music to cope with life. this song allowed me to see that i can use it to cope with death, too.

“die high” will be out on the one year anniversary of his death. 11/16 🪽
