I’ll take Ukraine as an example. My opinion is that what’s happening is a spineless, unethical, indefensible betrayal of words given and of values shared. But, for everyone sharing this opinion, there are as many people holding the opposite view.
Twitter has become the PvP arena where those opinions just clash all day long. It’s exhausting, toxic, and also ultimately futile, because no one is convincing anyone else.
So instead, I would rather approach topics like these with detachment and an almost clinical voice, trying to understand and discuss the drivers for these shifts, and their long-term implications.
Not expressing a preference doesn’t mean I don’t feel strongly about these topics, but I’d rather FC remains a somewhat neutral ground for a quasi-scholarly exploration where we collectively try to figure things out more deeply, instead of aggravating each other with just opinions
