Just got done reading chapter 1 of Anxious Generation and I’m left feeling this book and the author is going to do a lot of harm to kids and parents. Going to keep reading simply because I want to understand the entirety of the author’s arguments. But Im left feeling author is creating the anxiety for his own gain. This is not to say anxiety isn’t happening amongst the age groups.

mmh. I wonder what happen during 2008+ that led parents to feel hopeless, transmitting this hopelessness into their family, and then introduce technology in a vacuum of hopelessness? Mmh. The craziest part is zero mention of how economic stressors translates into parenting practices, which translates into social practices. Zero. And then exporting responsibility to schools, phones, or regulation, is completely irresponsible as a social psychologist. IMHO. Author goes to great length at pinning his “science” on at Anglosphere depression rates when GFC was a huge factor for Anglosphere. I’m going to piss off a lot of parents I think. There is a reason finance is a taboo subject.
