Find myself being way more direct and honest about my feelings lately.

I used to be really reserved and protective as to not hurt other people's feelings but I feel like in a lot of ways it just delays the outcome.

Radically open and transparent communication (with the right tone and phrasing) is really amazing.

Emotional intelligence plays an important role here. 
Being angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way, that is the ideal. Difficult but not impossible
