Also, I feel you on that. I had a very similar experience about 12 years ago when i was kinda vegetarian... Accidentally hit a squirrel and realized how much I didn't want to kill animals unnecessarily.

It is strangely common. But it makes sense to me. When we eat animals we logically know that they were killed. But when we ourselves kill an animal (for the avg person in a driving accident) we actually *feel* that they are killed.
