The Bedrock Optimism update was released on June 6, 2023 and provides tools for launching Optimistic Rollup blockchains. Bedrock has several features:
Reduce Cost: Bedrock optimizes data compression. It also removes all gas costs involved in running the EVM to record data on the Ethereum network.
Reduce Deposit Time: Bedrock supports a reorganization of the node software that significantly reduces the amount of time users have to wait to deposit cryptocurrencies. In previous versions of Optimism, the wait time was around 10 minutes, but with Bedrock this time has been reduced to 3 minutes.
