for context, i was sitting in first class, wearing a suit, Boomer sits next to me and starts talking about the usual "business or pleasure", "live there or visiting", by meal service he's on to stonks and real estate investment, i present well and im a gem to talk to so he's loosening up and having fun the pulled pork and mashed potatoes is served, we both got the same dish, both order red wine, if this was a date id be getting laid a mile high on this flight he gets a little too comfortable and mentions his retirement plans, something about renting some units and retiring in Chicago burbs (boooooooo that's your best idea for retiring?) while his management company does all the work, then sell them off after another few years of appreciation "man, that meal was poppin, finna take a piss, skibidi terlet boss" and squeeze by him silence for the rest of the flight, not even a courteous goodbye, the universe is balanced again, im so happy

like you say, sucks that they are still Dems, but speaking optimistically, this sounds like maybe the start of something good, i swore id never vote Dem again but let's just hope everybody starts to change their past behaviors realfugginquick (me incl)

(in fact, of the daily avg 3-4 south Americans i met as described that week, more than 10 were at the reserve finance party, meaning decentralized stablecoin users make up at minimum about 30-40% of the total crowd i talked to; im not even aware what coins the remainder used)

i think you are trolling me 😘 but ill respond to this talking point anyway bc people still bring it up and i think it misses the point 1) the internet is decentralized, and therefore it matters less if each website on it is centralized or not, same with crypto (tho you could argue that centralized actors in both web2 and stablecoins have consolidated power and created undesirable surveillance machines). more websites is generally good for the adoption and proliferation of the internet, even if they are centralized. same with apps on a blockchain. 2) there needs to be an asset class for people who hate banks but don't want speculative exposure to rollercoaster assets, and trusting/using/sending/receiving USDC/USDT is still way better than the JP Morgan equivalent for these users 3) only the first-gen bank-backed (albeit dominant marketshare) stablecoins are centralized, second gen decentralized stables (makerdao) and beyond (reserve.org) are still iterative projects but show a ton of potential
