also need to account for non-malicious bad actors i used to be in a FB group with 500 people for this kind of ad-hoc party planning action. mostly great people but there were some undesirables, and much of this coordination got taken to private chats instead of the main 500 person group. it started as a cool way to meet up for coffee or a beer, it turned into an overhyped cesspool, and the group became an anti-signal for good events. examples include: + creepy dudes opting into every single event, just because it's posted doesn't mean you should show up to everything + overly drunk people showing up to rage at a "chill" or "kidfriendly" party + people promoting their own parties (financial interest) + host was aiming for 20 people at a housewarming but 200 showed up (got evicted immediately lmao) + venues fucking hate dealing with this "idk we'll see who shows up" model + person A showing up to a party at person B's house, despite knowing they both have beef, because "everyone else was gonna be there"
