It always makes me wonder why so many people assume that representative democracy in Western and Westernized countries is the final form of government for nation-states.

"Democracy"? More like "democrazy." For real, I can't speak for every country, but here, it feels more like a monarchy than a democracy. The executive branch holds all the power, issuing decrees and vetoing laws our Senate approves. And to be honest, I don’t think we’ve seen the final form of this BS yet.
