I was reading some chapters of this book during my tertiary studies in Japanese studies and I found it very interesting how it demolishes the belief of the origin of the Japanese culture and society as a homogeneous & singular, popular thesis impulsed by yanagita kunio.

Sasaki Komei, is one of the greatest exponents of the pluralistic vision of Japanese culture and history. In the book mentions how during the JΕmon period the first Japanese culture was formed by the influence of differents cultures that came from the continent.
