A backstory about The Vessel Collection. 

It was my grandmother who said you can’t pour from an empty cup. 

When she passed away, one of the things that I took from her apartment was this vase. I have knocked it over countless times and thought good thing there isn’t anything in this fucking thing. 

In an exhausted and frustrated fit I knocked it over again and stood there staring at it, as tears streamed down my face. I heard her voice in my head saying you need to fill your cup so you can pour yourself onto others. 

That night I had a dream about trying to unsuccessfully fill the vase in a frigid river. No matter how hard I tried I could not get the water to flow into it. I woke up freezing and shaking staring at this vase that has been kicked around for years. 

And the idea for the collection was born. I find it fascinating how and when inspiration strikes during the most mundane of tasks and rooted in the recesses of your mind. 

I am learning how to put myself first. To fill my vessel.
