People say that using L1 is a better experience than using L2s but they are comparing apples to oranges. The user action on L1 is buying L1 tokens on a CEX and sending to the L1 and then using it in an app. The user action on L2s is buying L2 tokens on a CEX and sending to the L2 and then using it in an app. Users needing to bridge to L2s is only for the incremental user who was on Ethereum before going to an L2.
