This is a great question. I have purchased hundreds of Chinese-produced consumer goods from Chinese Amazon sellers and while I presume my deep data lies in Amazon’s Customer Relationship Management system, I’m not sure how much those sellers can access. I know that many Chinese Amazon sellers, at minimum, get my e-mail because a few actively bribed me not to leave negative reviews during the pandemic. One Chinese air filter manufacturer even false flagged my Amazon account for “racism” and I had all reviews deleted (“community privileges suspended”) because noting their terrible product was Chinese was “racism.” Also, American companies outsource more and more customer data management to India, the Philippines and jurisdictions that are presumably easier for foreign intelligence to compromise. I’m not sure that ownership location within China materially increases the Chinese Communist Party’s American consumer surveillance capability. Vectors are prolific and poorly monitored.

Chinese sellers on Amazon do not get access to your data, Amazon encrypts your email, so sellers never actually see your email address or phone number. They see an encrypted email & phone. They email you via the platform at the risk of being booted from the platform if they over use that feature. Furthermore, if the item is shipping from an Amazon warehouse in USA the sellers in China or anywhere else never actually sees your address (only city and state) they do however temporarily see your address if the item is not located in an Amazon warehouse and they ship it to you directly from China. All the above I know as facts. I can not say the same for the tiktok and temus of the world. But I believe data collected from shopping habits is limited in scope to data collected from social media, which can potentially show a lot more data points specially with geolocation and other personal information, e.g maiden names, pfp, lifestyle habits. The CCP has authoritarian control over all businesses in China
