Ruins of the Tuileries Palace, probably the largest classical palace ever built, along with the Louvre. It was the main residence of French kings during the Modern Age and its luxury and beauty were legendary. After the fall of the monarchy it changed its function several times until it was finally burned down by the communists in 1871. In the photo one of the few remains of the palace that remained.
