even though its not my personal favorite, this is sort of undoubtedly the movie that the coen brothers were always "meant" to make. you can see many concepts that are carried over from their very first film (blood simple)

given its cultural importance, i'm always suprised that the woodstock documentary is not more widely seen! its an incredible primary source of the event (and martin scorsese even worked on the film as an editor!)

obviously it has all of the trademark burton weirdness, but i love the sort of lynchian suburbia he captures here!

such a great energy to both this film and casino royale (both directed by martin campbell!) can only hope that the next reboot of bond has as great of a starting point as these two did bring campbell back? he's an unremarkable filmmaker otherwise, but he's nailed the relaunch of this character twice!

must-watch, even if you "hate musicals"—still feels electric and alive nearly seventy(!) years later

pierrot le fou is a cool crime movie that (very clearly) inspired tarantino—experimental without being abrasive
