... we each had a boogie board (a Styrofoam board for riding the waves in on your belly) and we were using then to float, as we looked out at the horizon and she told me stories about her grandmother (my great grandmother).
She talked for maybe half an hour or so.
I was listening to a tale about how she made the best orange juice muffins, when I tried to put my feet down on the ground to shift my position and realized, "uh-oh" I couldn't reach the bottom.
So I said, "Um... Aunt Eloise... I can't touch the bottom anymore."
She popped off her board, dropped under water, popped back up and said, "Oh don't worry dear, I can't either!"
I turned around and noticed that we could no longer see the shoreline because it was so far away, so I said "Um... I can't see the beach anymore either...."
She looked back too and calmly said, "Huh... I can't either! Well we better get swimming!"..... 1 reply
