The species has PTSD. I think people are too traumatized still to talk about it.

I know I feel anxious on the verge of a panic attack when I see someone out and about wearing a mask.

I assume that we all have some version of this anxious reaction.

Plus, it's still circulating and mutating so discussing it as a past event feels like a jinx.

It's very weird. And, as a therapist, I think a lot of the increased stress and anger we see out in public these days is a direct result of us all not talking about, and not unpacking our trauma around it.

We need global group therapy.

Please don't misunderstand me.

I completely understand and respect why people still choose to wear masks.

The sight of them just makes my heart race.

But I know that's a me problem, not a them problem.

Don’t come to Asia then! Still plenty of people wearing masks, especially in public transport (myself included).

But then again, masks were a somewhat-common sight here before COVID as well, partly due to pollution and partly out of courtesy to others when someone was sick
