Really fascinating exchange between Molly White, the crypto-hating 'journalist' behind Web3 is Going Great, and Lyn Alden, a prominent market researcher and strategist. Vastly different POVs and starkly constrasted communication styles. h/t to deana for the find https://x.com/LynAldenContact/status/1816619584679477704

I honestly love Molly. In an industry that’s so riddled with scams & nonsense, it’s nice to have negative commentary that’s informed. It’s not perfect and it’s a brand for her at this point, but at least we have some research. I also love Lyn’s perspective, although I struggle a bit with the “didn’t happen to me” arguments from women.

I think it’d be easy for a good journalist to poke holes in lots of Lyn’s arguments because there’s plenty of evidence to the contrary. I don’t consider Molly to be a good journalist, having read through dozens of her blogs. Perhaps she could be a better debater than author, hope we get to find out. Agree that we need critical takes (something I honestly wish we’d see more of on this app), but Molly to me feels like she’s always just looking for something to hate rather than sussing out actual news stories of substantive value. A lot of what she posts is just regurgitated from mainstream media with a big dose of “told you so”. That said, I also don’t make it a big point to read a lot of what she writes so I’m happy to be wrong here.

I’d love to see more critical yet informed takes of the technology, but will take what I can get!
