I remember when I was emotionally down and needed a place to cool off. This place was on my bucket list for a while. 

There are nine islands that make up the Azores and some of them are the world's tallest mountains. The islands are characterized by dramatic landscapes, fishing villages, green pastures and hedgerows of blue hydrangeas.

 Located at the North Atlantic Ocean roughly 1,000 miles (1,600 km) west of mainland Portugal
