Chapter 1: History

I’ve mentioned that my background is highly unconventional compared to many in our industry and my position didn’t even exist at @base when I was hired. I’m a trained archaeologist and a professional ceramic sculptor. So, I’m often asked how I fell in love with the Based Builder community and dedicated my life to building the global onchain economy with them.

It all makes sense when viewed from my perspective which is shaped by my insights as an archaeologist, years of studying how societies evolve, adapt, and innovate over time. Studying ancient civilizations reveals one consistent truth: societies that fail to adapt to new paradigms collapse under their own rigidity. As Lao Tzu said, “The hard and stiff will be broken, the soft and supple will prevail.”

Chapter 2 - Foundation

@base community is a living, breathing, multilayered HUMAN network, driven by intrinsic motivation, collective ownership, and a shared mission.

Every decision I make in my daily work is rooted in this definition & my learnings from managing large and messy crypto communities. Time and time again, I've seen founders fail in the crypto ecosystem when they overlook the humanity of their community and take an ingenuine, top-down approach.
