Blockchain scalability is key to mainstream adoption. Solutions like Layer 2 (e.g., Lightning Network) and sharding (e.g., Ethereum 2.0) offer paths forward. L2 boosts tx throughput off-chain, while sharding splits data across nodes. Each tackles congestion but introduces tradeoffs. L2 risks centralization; sharding, complexity. Balancing speed, security, and decentralization remains the challenge.
