The phrase 'There is no free lunch in the world' was first proposed by the economic master Friedman. Its original meaning is that even if you don't have to pay for meals, you still have to pay a price. Because the time you spend eating this meal can be used for other things, such as negotiating a one million dollar business deal. If you spend your time eating this meal, you lose the value that could have been there. This is the concept of opportunity cost.
