A sea of clouds is caused by the fog that comes from the Maruyama River. The air that is warmed during the day cools down at night and becomes lower than the water temperature of the Maruyama River, causing evaporative fog to form from the river. By looking down from a high position and seeing the mist that has accumulated between the mountains, Takeda Castle Ruins appears to be floating surrounded by a sea of clouds. It is also called Japan's Machu Picchu. I've only been there once.
