I’m pretty sure there’s an international competition, but the Olympics requires at least one participating team from each continent I believe. For example Egypt was one of the few synchronized swimming teams despite being something like 35th ranked

But this is like rank 10035, would guess among all people with Aus passport there could’ve been “better” options. Need to investigate before dunking though, but doesn’t change wtf factor

I think people are underestimating how new it is as a “sport” - high level competitions really only emerged 5/10 years ago so the gap between top 5 and the rest will be steep
