my 1 year old is starting his daycare this week. for parents who've been down this road, what's the best piece of advice for the transition? any lessons you learned the hard way?

Rip off the bandaid (don't succumb to the tears). Remind them 10x as much as usual that you love them.

This!! I’ve seen so many parents linger and go back during drop off. Start a good routine of one hug, one kiss, walk away turn around blow a kiss and wave then walk away. Sucks the first few times then all the parents are envious of your routine after a few weeks. Don’t be the parent that has the teacher hold the while they are reaching for you and crying as you walk out.
