Many punk derivs. Most low effort, except for based punks by @traf and the work done by @piv Have a look at the punks, see if they speak to you , if you appreciate the art. Imo they’re a nod to the OG crypto punks but reimagined with where pixel art is now or is heading to. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Well base ecosystem is rising. There is 3 projects have potential to be bluechip. One of them is BP. Traf and Hadi’s previous works are amazing, they got influence in this market. They are committed to build solid project. BP is opportunity for it. Lastly, big guys (Jesse, Jack Butcher etc…) supporting them.

new to NFTs and not an expert. from that perspective. the art is much sexier imo than the original which i never understood the appeal. holding 3 bp. never owned the original punk. don't really care if others say its a deriv and won't do well. love the energy on base and the bp holders so far

They ARE a deriv, a really good one, and they're cool looking. That's about the extent of the PFP story. Buy if you like what the PFP says about you, or if you think it's a good trade. Or just hang out

Derivates can perform well. Bitcoin Puppets are also just a derivative of https://magiceden.io/ordinals/marketplace/opium - yet the pumped as mad. The OG project isn't even well known. Not saying it's the same with Based Punks, of course Punks are the most known project, but esp. on other chains derivatives can work.
