wanted to come back to this and add a few things after finishing the whole thing (which I assume some detractors didn't do) 1. i never said jared is my new bff or that I actually believed everything he said in this podcast. 2. he is very inexperienced but seems like dug into the work and at least *tried* to learn as much as possible, even if he was wrong on some things. 3. its a nearly 4 hour long episode and lex talks very little. a podcast is a medium essentially built to sell yourself, its a marketing channel. despite that, jared presents a stark difference from the eccentricities, insanity and dramatics/theatrics of trump. though to be VERY clear, listening to this prior to today would NOT have changed my vote.

I decided to quote cast my response cause I find this topic fascinating. It doesn’t seem like we are advancing faster than ever before. We actually are. There is a theory about it called the law of accelerating returns. It shows that human technological growth is not linear, but exponential. On an exponential curve, you don’t notice things at first. Happens slowly, think the wheel, writing, medicine, etc. But once you get towards the exponential side of the curve, things accelerate very very rapidly. Right now we are so far along that exponential curve that things are happening faster than even the smartest people in the world can keep up with, and the pace is still accelerating. This theory was postulated by Ray Kurzweil, a futurist and principal researcher on AI at Google. disagree on vibes -- there's similarities but overall very different -- I see actual discussions here -- I mostly see dunking, fighting and shilling there. Past couple days, some of that ended up here but still overall much better here. I even saw a couple say they were feeling unsafe on twitter and would be spending more time here

I've stated a few times that I think Elon buying Twitter messed up Farcaster's anti-censorship, anti-institution value prop and they've struggled to find their footing ever since. Culturally both are very aligned with our current technocratic overlords too so the vibes are pretty much the same which is why there's no attempt at Blusky style outreach when people bounce from X. Team has financial incentives to not ostracize themselves from all kinds of things involving Elon, which is why there's no criticism, even though X is ostensibly a competitor. Is what it is but the big question is where do they go from here? Now that they've been paid via secondary on that big raise my guess would be some kind of acquisition? From X? Coinbase?
