It seems the lesson of the 2020 US Presidential Election and the 2022 Australian Federal Election is, make yourself as small a target as possible.

It seems regardless of which side of the aisle you stand on the assumption is voters are pissed because life is getting harder, you simply need to shut up and let the incumbent take the heat in order to win. 

Perhaps the question on people's minds should be; why is life getting harder regardless of who is in power?
