For casual Lulus worked surprisingly well. Note it’s the most expensive pair of shorts I own, but they’re great ($80-100). 

For athletic ten thousand foundational shorts with liner. Hands down best athletic shorts I’ve worn. Last forever.

More casual, but always on the lookout for new athletic shorts
