d2 The cat eats on a schedule three times a day. Strictly on schedule, and he is not allowed to enter the kitchen at unspecified times. If he gets naughty or tries to go in, he is doused with water from a sprayer. Many people think this is wrong and cruel, but it saves the cat from being punished and us from the trouble that would result if he snatched meat off the table and dragged it across the white carpet into the other room.
