1/ when I was planning to leave Coinbase in early 2021 to go work on my own thing after 5 years of leading engineering for our consumer products, my boss and then head of engineering, Manish Gupta, asked me to take time off before I made a decision. he worked hard with HR to give me flexibility as I transitioned.

2/ I took 3 months fully off, then came back in a part time role, not really know what to expect. that was the time I dug in and realized the potential impact I could have if I stayed at Coinbase and tried to bring us onchain. that led to base. without him fighting to make that space for me, I wouldn't be here.

3/ it also taught me that whenever you have great people who have been doing something for a long time, you should fight hard to give them the space to really think about what they want to do, with the commitment that you'll support then either day. I am incredibly grateful to manish to this day.

This is such a great story, glad to hear that he saw the value you added. Rare quality to have in such a large ship like Coinbase.
