there’s a /europoooooor dunk here, but what i find most interesting is:

- US productivity differentiated itself starting with the ‘08 financial crisis

- bumped in ‘20 when COVID forced work-from-home + layoffs for lower productivity industries

- receded in ‘22 when those industries re-opened, back-to-office

The main shortcoming of the American work ethic is that acceleration of productivity devalues the output. If you are more productive (you produce more things), but your wage is still the same, productivity matters only to company shareholders, not the workers.
