The irony of living in the modern era where people brag about all the technological advancements that make our lives easier is that you’re still paying for all of it it’s hard to come up with a list of specifically public goods off the top of my head that are a result of modernity

I can imagine the internet being a public good, but the only problem with that is most people don’t own the infrastructure that accesses the internet and need to pay to access it. If every computer was on a mesh network (with Apple it is) freely accessible and emitted to/by the user, that would make the internet free

If you’re talking about the protocol itself, yes. But it’s of no use if the protocol has no hardware to transmit data through. The hardware being the infrastructure that is rented to the user to access the protocol. https://warpcast.com/knny/0x8df016be

I see, so eg something like TOR where volunteers run nodes, you still need to purchase either the servers to run the nodes, or a laptop or something to access the network
