skeuomorphism is actually good many people pigeon hole skeuomorphism to the leather binding and bookshelf era of iOS but it's really just a way to leverage familiar visual cues to make new technology easier to understand and more approachable to use those visual cues will of course evolve over time as users adapt to new interfaces

it pigeon holes products when it goes beyond visuals and into function. for example a lot of productivity software (i.e. google docs) feel tied into physical limitations of typewriters and papers.
