solana is interesting—looking for cheaper options to build unlonely on - optimism polygon and base as well but I never gave solana a chance bc I was swept into the eth maxi mindset last year. a lotta of the things I cared about which made me dislike solana don’t really matter as much now I’m realizing thoughts?

and after decentralization and security, our next priority is driving down fees on base as aggressively as possible. we've been working towards a huge step function reduction with eip4844.com for the last year which should land in Q3. and then we are working on a bunch of L2 cost scaling intitiatives as well.

me and the core team spent 4 years hyperscaling coinbase.com and we are taking all the learnings and are going to scale the crap out of base :)

Where can I read more about base’s plan solve 1. Centralized sequencers 2. Fragmented liquidity across L2s 3. Hotspots where one app or mint increases fees for the entire L2

We're working with Optimism on their Superchain roadmap to address (1) and (2). More details to come but some teasing here: https://optimism.mirror.xyz/2jk3D1Y8-hid8YOCUUa6yXmsyzNCYYyFJP0Nhaey9x0

As for (3), the scaling initiatives Jesse noted will help raise the headroom available before chains become demand constrained. But bottom line is there will always be a point at which demand constraints lead to increasing prices, unless the fee market is badly designed in which case the chain just becomes unavailable.

Thanks! Will read for sure. Solana’s approach to #3 is local fee markets, made possible because of parallelized txns, which in turn is possible because each txn needs to specify exactly where it wants to write to. That’s working out decently so far!

Ethereum's access list feature allows this as well, but they are optional, and there are other limits to parallelization that come into play which other chains like Solana and Sui/Aptos (Move) have removed through various innovations (though not entirely without tradeoffs).
