Brutalism is an architectural style characterized by its use of raw, simple concrete forms. It originated in the UK and flourished during the 1950s and 1970s in many developed countries of the time, including Europe, the Soviet Union, and the United States. It later spread worldwide to countries such as Japan, Israel, and Brazil. Buildings constructed in this style often exhibit a solid and resilient appearance. By 1980, Brutalism began to decline as structures built in this style tended to crack and deteriorate quickly, causing maintenance challenges.
