The image of a black hole "devouring" a star with the mass equivalent to the Sun. Astronomers have captured the moment a supermassive black hole "ripped apart" a star with a mass equivalent to that of the Sun. The image, released by the European Southern Observatory on October 12, 2020, shows a star being "torn apart" and drawn into the black hole.
