Hey Farcaster! I'm making my first cast to introduce my new side project. I have a friend who gets so worried about flying, he will reschedule flights if his turbulence app tells him it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Just a simple man making his way through the galaxy.

I got a bit carried away and decided right there and then to build a flight search for people who are afraid of flying.

Right now, it shows you the breakdown of aircraft used by the airline to fly that particular route. In the future, I’m planning to add seat maps and more advanced filtering options.

The 737 Max issues really worried him, so he asked me if it was possible to build a flight search that would allow you to skip. After looking into the data, it turns out it was doable! Turns out the Bureau of Transporation statistics publishes stats on every flight segment in the US, including which aircraft was used.

Now is better than never.
Although never is often better than *right* now.

Flying is magical! Have you considered taking small steps, like maybe a 40 mins flight?

I relate to this. never flown and I don't have much excuse for this outside of the irrational fear.
