FarCon 2023 Tickets

My FarCon take-aways!

1. Devs were present, but not primary 

This wasn’t DevCon or ETH Global. Outside of the hackathon, I met mostly non-dev founders, builders, artists, and the sort of broader cross section you see here on Farcaster itself.

2. Tension exists between warpcast and other clients

I spoke with a couple non-warpcast client builders and they understandably did not feel comfortable “competing” directly with warpcast.  @0xdesigner summarized well:

3. There’s room to explore FC client diversity 

Many client builders are leveraging the onchain nature to elevate different UX and purposes:

5. Base had a huge presence at FarCon

It’s clear they see Farcaster as a big play for them, and it makes sense. If FC becomes a social schelling point, Base wins by proxy.

Sardines

6. @horsefacts.eth is a member of a niche /sardines enjoyooor community. 

and I foolishly confused them with anchovies (I don’t like either). I learned they are sold in different flavors like Habanero Sardines 🧑‍🍳

7. The people like nice weather and walk-ability

So many conversations comparing the weather and walk-ability of FarCon vs other crypto conferences. Side events included biking, running, skateboarding, pickleball, and generally enjoying each other's company while touching grass (and sand).
