I've been working on a novel set in the world of @cryptocoven since we launched THE NARRATOR'S HUT all those moons ago. the support of our community has breathed life into a tale of magic, secrecy, betrayal, and, above all, what it means to claw and bleed your way into becoming a WITCH 🩸

what made working on the original coven collection so exciting for me was building out a world for the witches to live in. beginning with the WITCH descriptions, where does their power come from? where do they live? how do they use magic to manipulate the world around them?

with the TREE OF ECHOES and THE NARRATOR'S HUT, we explored those dynamics in short stories. who was the first OCCULTIST to deal with demons? who was the first MAGE to bestow power through tattoos?

the production schedule of a huge undertaking like the NH meant I finished my part (writing the stories) long before launch. I found myself itching to dig into something deeper, to spend more than a few pages in these wilds, with these witches.

enter Fig!! ✨️ in the fall of 2022 I began mapping the story of a  disgraced occultist and her two daughters – one hidden, the other set on killing her. 

the first scene was a meeting between a nameless girl and the enchantress who would shatter her life.

over the course of two years (!!) that story has shifted, twisted, and grown into something I'm really quite proud of. 

as of this month it's finally ready to share with you :))

I knew when I began writing that a novel was not the ideal momentum-building quick follow-up to our last project. but that's never been our priority.

it is, instead, a lovingly crafted dive into the world we've built. I really hope you'll come be a part of it ✨️
