Over a month into building the onchain website builder on @base as a side project. Here’s what’s new as of this week: 🔹 Built a REST API to manage projects & pages 🔹 Content is now saved in a database instead of local storage 🔹 Added a responsive Navbar component with dropdowns & mobile hamburger menu Next up: wallet login via @onchainkit If you’re interested in beta testing, you can sign-up at onchainsite.xyz

Love to see it! It should be a requirement that all merchants at a crypto conference take payment in crypto

It allows you to build a website with onchain components and deploy it to any domain, just like a regular website. You can create NFT galleries with mint cards, manage identity through wallet connections, accept payments with a “Pay with Crypto” checkout button, or add a swap button for a token website - all powered by @onchainkit under the hood. In the future you might be able to directly deploy an NFT by dropping a media and display it in a mint card, and similar for tokens.

Nice! we gotta ship fast then 😁 Webflow is probably my favorite out of the major ones right now because of its flexibility, but the barrier to entry is just too high for most people. It's very challenging to balance flexibility and ease of use as a website building platform.

Weekends are for builders, so it's late sunday demo time for the personal project. We just shipped mobile responsiveness for our onchain website builder! 📱💻 Now, you can rearrange elements for different breakpoints, ensuring a fully responsive experience, without touching a single line of code. 🔹 Properties panel: Customize text, colors, and other styles for each component. 🔹 Drag-and-drop adjustments: Resize and reposition components for mobile screens. 🔹 Preview mode: Visualize how your responsive website will look in production. Right now, we’re focused on functionality over design, knocking out key features one by one. Next up: the mighty navbar component + new project page. Might also throw in another breakpoint (tablet) in the future. Lot more to build. Join the waitlist at https://onchainsite.xyz if you're interested in being an early tester.

great idea! A lot of small steps required to create a robust builder experience first, but will certainly explore later!

[2/3] While there are excellent page builder libraries out there (like Craft.js by @prevwong), we decided to build our own solution for three key reasons: 🔹 Precise drag-and-drop: Existing libraries either had rigid drop zones or didn’t support our specific requirements for grid-based positioning. So we used react-dnd alongside a custom grid system to ensure precise, intuitive placement. 🔹 AI Integration: Since we’re planning to integrate an AI-powered building experience, we needed full control over how components move, resize, and style within our native grid system. 🔹 Custom resizer: We built a custom resizer native to our grid system, ensuring smooth adjustments across breakpoints while keeping everything structured. Feel free to ask away any questions - happy to share more about the journey as we build in public.

[1/3] Updates on the onchain website builder project. We've managed to create a v1 grid structure that nails our ideal drag-and-drop experience - demo is in the thread. Big shoutout to my fellow builder Altinok for making this possible. First thing’s first, here's what's new as of day 15: 🔹 Launched a waiting list: 54 subscribers and counting - sign up at http://onchainsite.xyz 🔹 Built our landing and template selection pages 🔹 Developed the v1 page builder One of the most intuitive website building experiences I’ve come across is Squarespace’s grid structure, but I always felt it lacked flexibility in droppable regions. Our goal was to recreate that same intuitive feel but with tighter boxes and more precise drag-and-drop zones for greater control.
